Spring Clean!!

Thought it was about time to silence the critics and blow the dust off the Barndoor. What a cool little project!

Nearly forgot that we squeezed Jonathan and Maggies bay in for various MOT bits...it's back with us post summer for a new beam and subtle lowering job...see you then guys.

This is about the only bit thats in good order...dont worry Barndoor people, all the good bits such as the rear axle will be put on the SSVC/Samba etc when we're done.

Gersons done a great job giving us something to work with. Theres a few additions that are needed though before it goes off to be E-coated. First job...raising the steering box!

This is a 50mm lift kit bought from 'dsbus' on the SSVC forum. Great product that only needed modding due to the barndoor pedal shaft being different.

With the cable tubes in and some extra gearbox gussets its starting to take shape....yeah right!

Although we normally like to have a Christmas clean up, we were so busy this year that its slipped into Februarys itinerary!

Silver Steve manned up and popped down to help with the spring clean...not sure if that's a promotion or demotion from teaboy Steve?! ...Cheers Mate :)

Cool looking Ghia!

Jons Ghia flew through its MOT this week which left us time to sort out some other essentials like the blowing exhaust, ride height and some Simpson lap belts amongst other things.

With the collars fitted the exhaust is now gas tight and sounds spot on!

Photobucket

...just before a gentle tickle with the lowering stick!

....after three clicks on the front and two full screw rotations on the back...ride height sorted!

To say that Jon uses this car for his daily (since abandoning modern cars), and  wife Zoe (when not in her split) uses it to do the shopping and kid run... We think that its a got a great stance with just enough practicality thrown in!!  Nice one Jon :)

Bobs engine had more leaks than a collinder...Re-sealed and ready for instalation next week.

Flippin' Seat!!

So...Nicks Flip seat is now completed and ready for trimming. As the lift up centre section will have the seat permenantly mounted to it we will be adding a gas support strut to assist lifting the weight shortly.

Lengthening the B-pillar seams will allow for safety edging to be used...this will give a nice clean finish as Nick might decide to trim the pillars too.

This setting on the brackets is perfect for MOT inspections and being fully in control of the steering wheel! When your just cruising the brackets can be reclined further!!

Its not going to be to everyones taste, but theres no denying how big it makes the inside of a bay look and feel. Next job...King and link pin front set up so he can get even lower!!

Simon Stevens popped in on the social to show off his new interior at the weekend...Loving the snakeskin!

We've really enjoyed wathing the evolution of 'GHUB' since we IRS'd her four years ago. This is a bus that is as good ontop as it is underneath, well....if you'd ever get that alternator fixed!!

Always a pleasure Si, see you soon :)
